Vidalia Onion Appetizer

Ingredients
 

4 large onions, sweet
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup vinegar
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 tsp celery salt

Preparation
 
Thinly slice onions. Combine onions, water, sugar, and vinegar;
marinate overnight. Before serving, drain and pat dry. Toss with
mayonnaise and salt. Serve on party rye.
